I think you can lay them out any damn way you want. By gads, you can do it different every single time!
But get used to reading across down diagonal
or however - but that you kinda want to learn to do it the same every time so you don't leave out steps later on.

In three card tarot readings we were taught to read time as left to right.
This is not tarot.
When we get to 3x3 we'll find the columns are one thing, and the rows are something else, and the corners and diagonals get really important. but you want to learn a system of looking at these smaller groupings because when we get to laying out 36 cards....

Whip path = stay the course, add the discipline
Whip clover = DO IT NOW
Whip Sun = seek Bliss

Where'd I go wrong, if I did?

I feel more detail available in the whip than implied, btw, is that possible.
